Newport Beach, CA (Vocus) January 26, 2010 -- As of 2PM PST, Newport Beach’s official Facebook fan count stands at 9,753, representing an exciting milestone for the popular Orange County, CA travel destination. “Newport Beach – Southern California,” (http://www.facebook.com/visitnewportbeach) the destination’s official Facebook fan page is set to reach 10,000 fans within the next two weeks, joining other iconic Southern California destinations such as San Diego (23,925) and Santa Monica (11,009) as numbering fans in the tens of thousands and will be the only Orange County travel destination boasting such fan figures.

Newport Beach has been ground zero for popular TV programming highlighting our sunny days and the ultimate in coastal living, including:
• The current hit series “The Real Housewives of Orange County” on Bravo makes liberal use of various locales throughout Newport Beach.
• In 2007 MTV replaced its hit OC series (Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County) with a new show, “Newport Harbor: The Real Orange County.” Only the cast and location changed in the new series based on the lives of wealthy high school students living in Newport Beach.
